CIGAL Reference Manual, Chapter 1 (Topics): philosophy
Philosophy -- CIGAL design
The basic philosophy embedded within CIGAL is flexibility:
- data variables can be accessed directly from any memory storage device
- data items can be a wide range of data types
- data variables can be of any size
- all or part of any variable can be used for almost any operation
- if hardware isn't available for an operation, software emulates it
- if a predefined command isn't available for an operation, write a macro
